Winnebago 24 Hour Release Status
As of the July 16, 2026 research check, no official Winnebago County Sheriff page displayed a rolling list of people released during the prior day. The Sheriff inmate inquiry offered name and alphabet searches behind CAPTCHA, but it did not show a released filter, release-date control, archive, or 24-hour window. The jail navigation, sitemap, and focused searches also produced no such feed. This is an observed limit of the public interface. It does not mean the Sheriff keeps no internal release log.
A current roster answers who is displayed in jail custody. It is not a release ledger. Someone who no longer appears may have left the building, moved to IDOC, entered federal or immigration custody, transferred elsewhere, or failed to appear because of a search mismatch. A verified same-day result needs a custody event from the Sheriff, AVN/VINE, or a produced release record.
Check Winnebago Same-Day Releases
Begin with a named person and a fixed time range. The current Sheriff inquiry can show whether the person is still displayed. Local AVN can report a release event, while the jail and its own record can confirm what happened. The court docket explains legal authority but may precede the actual exit.

The Winnebago County Sheriff accepts Illinois FOIA requests online, by email, mail, or hand delivery. Its form is optional. The Sheriff FOIA instructions state the request routes. Illinois generally allows five business days for a noncommercial response, with a permitted five-business-day extension. Winnebago Release or Transfer
A release ends custody at the reporting facility. It does not always mean the person entered the community. A transfer to IDOC, another county, USMS, or ICE continues custody under another authority. “Time served” describes a sentence disposition. Pretrial release allows a person to leave while charges remain pending. Parole or mandatory supervised release means state prison confinement ended while state supervision continues.

The physical custodian’s release or transfer entry is the strongest record of what happened at the jail door. A filed court order is strongest for why the action was legally authorized. Use both when timing and disposition must be exact.
Where Winnebago Releases Exit
The Sheriff directs community pickup to the separate Bond Out entrance off West State Street, not the Justice Center’s main entrance. Bond Out can be reached at 815-319-6614. Processing time varies, and the Sheriff publishes no fixed daily release time. A court order therefore should not be converted into a predicted pickup time.
The Sheriff inmate-release page documents the exit and pickup process. Staff may still need the filed order, identity checks, a review of other holds, and account or property closeout. Families should wait for direct confirmation before traveling. A person can also depart through a transfer path rather than Bond Out.
Property not held as evidence and medication should be returned during release. Remaining account funds are placed on a ReleasePay card. Evidence property must be handled through the arresting agency or State’s Attorney. Those details concern release logistics, not proof that authorization has cleared.
Winnebago Pretrial Release Context
Winnebago Pretrial Services dates to 1990 and now works within Illinois’ post-2023 pretrial system. It supervises some defendants released while charges remain unresolved. That status is not parole, and it does not mean a sentence has ended. The judge controls release conditions through the court order.
The county’s nightly dashboard may list Initial Appearance Court schedules, including Saturday court. Those listings are court scheduling data, not release totals. They cannot be used to build a same-day release feed. A court event can also occur before jail processing, so the Sheriff custody record remains necessary for the actual exit time.
