Search entries
A name, place, or other term entered into a search tool is sent to the third-party provider operating that tool. This site does not store or log those search terms on its own systems. The provider’s terms and privacy practices govern its processing.
Messages
Information sent by email or a contact form is kept as needed to answer the message. It is not shared outside the organization unless a legal requirement applies.
Technical Data and Cookies
Normal page requests can produce technical records such as an IP address, browser and version, device type, operating system, visited pages, time spent, referral source, and timestamps. Cookies may help measure how visitors use the site. Browser controls can block or remove cookies, although parts of the site may behave differently afterward.
How Information Is Used
Data supports site operation, performance, and security. It may route a search to the selected partner, show which pages are useful, diagnose errors, and help display advertising that may reflect interests. It is not used to alter an official Winnebago County or Illinois custody record.
Other Websites and Advertising
Links may lead to Winnebago County release records, Sheriff and corrections pages, Illinois government portals, or outside search tools. Once a visitor leaves, the destination’s privacy policy applies. Some advertising partners may measure activity across sites for targeted advertising through their own systems, not this site’s records.
When Data May Be Shared
Personal information is not sold. Limited data may reach search partners that process a query, analytics providers, advertising networks, and law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order. Illinois FOIA, 5 ILCS 140, governs access to records held by public bodies, not private site analytics.
Security Practices
Reasonable technical and organizational safeguards are used, but no internet-connected service can promise perfect security. Transmission, storage, software, and third-party systems can all carry risk, so this notice does not make a breach-proof guarantee.
Visitors Under 18
This site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. A parent or guardian who believes a minor submitted information may use the Contacts page to request review and deletion.
Your Privacy Choices
Subject to applicable law and verification, a user may ask for a copy of personal data held by the site, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, or an opt-out from certain processing. These rights concern site-held data and do not change records maintained by the Sheriff, court, IDOC, or another agency.

This notice may be revised as services or legal duties change. A revised version takes effect when posted here with its new effective date. Continued use after posting indicates acceptance of the updated practices.
